Fortunate Harbor is the 2nd book in the Happiness Key series the first book is Happiness Key I don t usually like to start a series by skipping books, but I had no problems at all following the characters and events in this book. There are several storylines going on in this book, and for the most part I enjoyed them. The four main female characters in this series are Tracy Deloche a former trophy wife who s ex husband is in prison for real estate scams, she owns the five cottages on Happiness Key [...]

Lisa

Another not too light but not too heavy read, with some substance to it Once again the friends of Happiness Key are trying to help each other stay afloat amid life s vicissitudes, and doing a good job, for the most part The suspense aspect of the book is well done there was enough foreshadowing to keep me satisfied but enough mystery to keep me guessing till the end.

Pat

Fortunate Harbor is a sequel to Happiness Key 2009 , and, like the first book, it is what Richards herself calls a friendship book In Book 2, the four women who formed a circle of friends in Happiness Key return Just when Tracy Deloche is ready to see her relationship with environmentalist lawyer Marsh Egan progress to the next stage, former relationships complicate their lives Janya Kapur is eager to start a family, but her husband suddenly is distant even on the rare occasion when he s home Lo [...]

Michelle

I enjoyed Fortunate Harbor Some places were a bit long and had drawn out further than necessary, but really I cared about the characters The genre felt the most like Women s Fiction with a touch of romance and mystery to top it off I loved the subplots involving whether or not ex spouses should be reinvested in emotionally when the strings were originally cut for a good reason The loyalty of the characters was admirable and the message about marriage and intimacy was good as well None of these c [...]

I had no idea this book was Book 2 in a series Good thing didn t know that, as I tend to not get into series until I ve read the prior books in the list, but in this case, I would ve missed out on one of the best reads I ve ever had.Emilie Richards writes with a flowing style and there s nothing clunky or overdone about her words You d think that with a cast of characters as big as the one featured in this book, the writing could ve gotten awkward and messy at times No such thing here each story [...]

Ruth

Once again we meet the four women that we became acquainted with in Happiness Key Tracy has continued working at the Rec department Janya s husband continues to work long hours and she still isn t pregnant Hints from her mother about getting a grandchild are not helping Alice and her granddaughter Olivia are doing well The Dancing Shrimp has been taken over by new owners and Wanda finds that she is losing her job She decides to open Wanda s Wonderful Pies despite a slump in the economy At the Da [...]

Robin

I really liked the first book in this series, Happiness Key It was a good beach read light women s fiction with characters that weren t created with a cookie cutter.Update This was a perfect book for the beach as the pages just turned themselves, plus it has a great cover that just begs to be thrown in the beach bag If you think about reading this, be sure to read the first book Fortunate Harbor continues the story of Tracy, Janya, and Wanda, three friends who live in a defunct resort community [...]

Gloria Bernal

A fun romance with enough intrigue to keep things interesting Richards creates believable characters you quickly begin to care about Fortunate Harbor is part of a series set on the Florida coast The four friends expand their close knit group to bring a new neighbor in, but Dana Turner doesn t open up enough, causing the friends to wonder just what it is she s hiding, and why she moves so frequently that her young daughter can t form lasting friendships either The amateur sleuths get assistance f [...]

Jennifer Worry

I have not read the first book in this series, but thankfully that does not interfere with the ability of enjoying this novel It is a wonderful story of friendship among 5 women who are all facing different challenges in life They are a tight knit group of people who stand strong together and are fiercely protective of each other Each woman is facing serious issues within her own life, and they all depend upon each other to get through these struggles Even though this is the case this book is la [...]

Stacy

The driving forces of the book is the secret that Dana is keeping and the real reason CJ, Tracy s ex, is back in town These storylines were what kept me interested I liked the women themselves too, but wish I had read the first book in the trilogy It wasn t hard to keep everyone straight, but I may have been engaged in the story if I knew where each of them was coming from I think because of that the first half of the book dragged a bit for me By the second half I was into it and interested in [...]

Suka

As I was reading this book, some details seemed very familiar to me, but I knew that I had never read it before After a few chapters, I realized that it was the sequel to Happiness Key that I had read awhile ago I found the continuation of the original story very interesting, although it is not necessary to read the first to enjoy the second I hope there is a third book in the series and, if so, another romantic interest is introduced, because I m not crazy about Marsh and I really don t think h [...]

Lynda

This book was better than book one but still not up to par with her other series Several plot lines overlap with Wanda opening a pier bakery, Jahna s attempt to strengthen her marriage and have a baby, along with a mystery surrounding new resident Dana Turner and her daughter Lizzie nad Tracey s problems with the return of her ex husband Parts of the book were good but it is still very formulaic Friendship books are in so follow the format.

Tracy Ralls

I was initially interested in this book because it was by the same author as Iron Lace , which I deeply loved This story is entirely different than expected and I was engrossed from the start I read these books out of order, unknowingly and am reading the first book now The characters are real and it is impossible not to care and wonder what will happen next to this group of unlikely friends I recommend this to all the ladies

Massanutten Regional Library

Jennifer, Grottoes patron, June 2015, 5 stars A delightful sequel to Happiness Key An easy summer read with a surprising twist of mystery Delightful to follow the bond ofthese friends from such different backgrounds and circumstances.
