Enjoyable, but a little too much of a survey for what I wanted I know there s a lot of history to jam into 250 pages, especially including pre history, and the author did her best to outline general trends and sketch in important moments, but only the first really worked The important characters and moments ended up rather a sea of names, unfortunately However, I do feel as though I have a somewhat firmer footing in regards to general periods of Scottish history, which was the goal going in.

A accurate title for the bulk of this book would be A history of the ruling class in Scotland.
