Bullet Review Aw, hell, why not give this 4 stars Archibald Chamberlain kicks , the story is pretty tight and flows very well to the impending apocalypse, and that final page of reveal for Mao is pretty epic It s over the top, a bit melodramatic as Chamberlain might say , but the whole thing has been really so why not, at the end of the day, embrace it

Anthony

This is still so frickin good

Before I begin I just wanted to say, I m surprised how well reading comics on a phone really works Just make sure it s by panel, not by page and it actually works really well Anyway, East of West is my 2nd favorite series ever and I gotta say, this might actually be one of the best volumes so far. What s it about Do I really need to go into all of that Seriously, this is a very complex story, I m not describing the storyline of the 7th story arc.Why it gets 5 stars Well it s why almost every volu [...]

At this point, a volume of East of West feels like reading a chunk of an incredible fantasy novel out of context There is no contained story to these pages, just additional chapters of a remarkably well mapped epic As powers consolidate, the final stages of this great war are becoming clear, and even though we hardly spend any time with Death during these pages, the scope of the story is so beyond him at this point that I hardly missed him I am blown away by the scope of Hickaman s vision While [...]

Scott Foley

East of West continues to be one of the most satisfying series that I m following Even with the seventh volume, Jonathan Hickman engages the reader with innovative plot development and surprising character development I never know what s coming next with this series, and that s about the highest compliment that I can pay.If you re unfamiliar with the premise, the idea is that I can t even It s far too complicated Just pick up volume one and you ll catch on quickly enough Just know it s a dazzlin [...]

Craig

One of the best volumes yet in this series Things are starting to happen Armies are marching and clashing Heads of state are brought low The conspirators who were ushering in the apocalypse are starting to turn on one another This is great stuff Lots and lots of violence Blood Grue Decapitated heads Jonathan Hickman and Nick Dragotta s vision of a future America descended directly from the cowboys and Indians and the Civil War is a magnificent creation and it looks like we re heading for one hec [...]

The weird Western s third year opens with War as in the Horseman complaining that this apocalypse seems to be taking its own sweet time, and few readers will disagree But shit does finally seem to be getting real now, even if there s still a regrettable tendency towards would be suggestive overuse of italics.

Adam

Holy shit This volume has the potential to be considered one of the best in the series The artwork was absolutely stunning even so than usual and the story was fantastic, especially with the flawless use of the flashbacks Goddamn I love this series So good.

Jake

I seriously can t believe this series manages to be as fun as it was on page one, even in its seventh volume After much building, the ultimate climax of war is happening The big thunder is afoot The apocalypse is still up for grabs, but the showdown s gettin meaner This is one of the wildest things I ve ever read and it s always from a source of control It never feels off the rails It s perfection.

Saif Saeed

I m torn.On the one hand, I want to give this a three stars because I feel like less happened in this volume than in any other volume. On the other hand, the few things that did happen were cool as heck I am 1000% an Archibald fan, and its nice to see him shine.I ll give it a four because I m a fan of the series but it is one of the most decompressed stories I have read and this volume even so.

andrew y

I could almost follow the plot and feel like the end, if it ever comes, will not be as completely impenetrable as the previous volume seemed to hint at Yay

Selwa

This series continues to exceed my initial expectations not that I disliked it initially, but I was somewhat lukewarm about it I never expected it to getso good.

Ben

Plenty of secondary thread action, but I would have liked to see of the main plot All the cross, double cross, triple secret double cross moves just muddy up the story and create an unnecessary need for deus ex machina solutions.

Neil

Oh man, Shit is Happening I still have no idea what exactly, but still love reading this

Taylor Ramirez

The art work is absolutely stunning, especially the colors Frank Martin really stepped up his game in this book.Wolf is the Prophet What happened to that other guy Wolf ate the Prophet, that s messed up.The scene with Chamberlain and Madame President Palpatine was so great I love how they made good use of the hologram communication to make the president look small and helpless The carrot, you see, is the stick People love to think they re defiant They love to play the rebel Tell them they cannot [...]

Scott Lee

I ve followed Hickman all over the place since I first encountered him on Thor consistently my favorite mainstream comic character, even if the book doesn t always get the teams it deserves This series is his best work A unique weird western science fiction dystopian blend that embraces too many genres to fully and clearly name, and the story is amazing The pieces continue to fall as everyone seems determined to kill everyone else This particular volume is driven primarily by the revelation that [...]

Prayers granted It was good to see the wolf back His last battle was super epic and I hope he doesn t change after devouring the false prophet.Archibald has started a very dangerous game, I hope he can get out of it untouched like always And we have found him as the most formidable shooter in East of the west world. And lets not forget about Antonia, poor Antonia No one doesn t like you Antonia, and no one won t miss you.It was a little harsh what happened in Bel Solomon s line of story I will mi [...]

Lots of interesting stuff is going on in this book eastern states are locked in a war with western ones martyrs fight unwinnable battles a Greek style pantheon of the horsemen of the apocalypse oversees such battles with pleasure It is all very interesting and the approval rating on this book suggest that, read against the backdrop of the full saga it gains extra dimensions However, I jumped in at Episode 7 and so my grip on what on earth was happening was slim at best No doubt it is better then [...]

Noah Appelbaum

If I take a second to think about it, this book was pretty action packed, but as a whole it felt like the series was kind of dragging I guess it s my fault for only reading trades, but at this pace of release the narrative trick of flashing forward to events you don t have context for and then filling you in later is mostly just confusing And the second time in the same book, it s mostly just annoying I should probably reread these all at once, at least before the next one comes out, but at the [...]

Paul Allard

Climactic volume as the series draws to a close but not yet In this volume, various power players make their move to eliminate the competition and impose themselves on the world Betrayal and bloodshed abound and important figures are eliminated from the power struggle.Still engaging although quite wordy and philosophical in places, this volume hopefully will lead to a final volume It s interesting and gets the reader quite involved Worth a look definitely but read the other volumes first.

Jeffrey

Suffers from some willy nilly plot points that were meant to be wowzer moments but fell flat for lack of proper construction If the author had spent time laying the ground work then he could have carried off the bombing sequence and made Archibald s baddassery cool moments instead of written by the seat of the pants, afterthoughts.I m still enjoying the look and feel of the books though, but the story is kind of shallow in this volume.

Ron

The action keeps coming, but this volume seems a bit remote since Death and his son play little part Rather this volume sees the Union get its comeuppance, the Endless Nation meets the Prophet, and the Confederacy shows its fangs It will be interesting to see what transpires in the next volume. Thanks to Image Comics for letting me read this ARC.

Micah Ulibarri

I love East of West However, this volume was probably my least favorite so far Its still telling its story and this one does a lot of set up for what is sure to be the big climax My favorite two characters are Death and his son they barely make an appearance Nonetheless, it is clear that what its moving towards will be great.

Jodi

The machinations of the end times continues And it continues to be incredibly interesting Death or his son hardly featured at all in this volume, and I wasn t expecting the Dark Towers to take such an interesting turn, though I doubt it will last Somehow, I also didn t anticipate Wolf being in such a position of power These are the types of turns that make this story interesting.

Daniel

For consistency this is my favorite comic series. What sets Hickman s work here above, say, Remender s who I also think is great is that while both writers put there characters in serious peril, life is treated sacredly here and not something that is thrown away meaninglessly in hopes of eliciting emotion.

Gabriel

this is an excellent series, but the character motivations for each nation are hard to pin down and the amount of goings on becomes hard to keep up with If you re looking for something fun and easy to drop into, check out Black Hammer

Adan

The nations are fracturing, leaders all falling, the end times are well and truly here, and Archibald Chamberlain is somehow the baddest dude in the Apocalypse Yes, the dude that looks like Colonel Sanders is winning, and he is winning by a damn sight.

Belinda (TheBookBuddies)

Read in single issues Shit goes down and not much is seen of Death We do catch up with everyone else Chamberlain making moves and Mao is finally getting ready to fuck shit up Can t wait for the next

Dru

It s a testament to Hickman and Dragotta s book that some of my favorite moments are this far into the story A revolution comes to a head, a nation changes leaders, political intrigue, and a lover sacrifices everything for their partner Recommended.
