I picked up this book from a table of featured books at the library A friend of mine and I visited Cuzco and Machu Picchu in 1978, and we were so fascinated I learned some interesting things from this book that I didn t know before I was particularly interested in the huacas and the mummies that have been found.

A solid introduction to Incan culture, although much lighter on mythology than I expected from the title The first 20 pages are history and geography and the final 10 a glossary of words probably familiar to any adult readers so there s actually only about 30 large print pages of stories, mostly origin myths, plus some space taken up by pictures.

A helpful and interesting introduction, not only to the mythology of the Incas, but also their general history, civilization, and achievements It would work well as a classroom resource or a quick jumping off point for anyone new to the topic.
